Surat Pandey Degree College was established in the year 1983 by a social worker and a very pious person Sri Yugal Kishor Pandey, in memory of his father Sri Surat Pandey Ji to extend the service in the field of Education for the downtrodden people of this area.
Surat Pandey Degree College feels that we should flourish the hidden qualities of our students with the help of pious, selfless and dedicated work. The college imports such type of education where character is backbone of the life. We believe that serving poor and have-nots is serving God. So, we Feel pleasure in upgrading the life of the students belonging to ST, SC, OBC and the students of minor community. We believe that talent can be shown at any place whether it is study or an extracurricular activity. Therefore, to groom our students we encourage them to take part in extracurricular activities such as sports, fine arts, music etc. organized by the college. We nourish our students to face the continuously changing social challenges, keeping in mind the concept of Charls Darwin, survival of the fittest”.

Welcome to S.P.D. College, Garhwa.
Once Gurudeo, Nobel Laurette, Sri Rabindranath Tagore has said “the highest education is that which does not merely gives information but make our life in harmony with all its existence.”
Surat Pandey degree college which is popularly known as SPD college has started its journey in the year 1983 with the aim of providing education to the boys and girls and empowering them for socially conscious, morally upright, emotionally balanced and financially independent.
This college is an amalgamation of competent teachers, efficient staffs and safe and supportive environment for its students to provide a perfect balance of academic and social opportunities.
Our concern is to ensure students’ emotional growth along with academic excellence so that it empowers them to develop their self-steam, self-awareness and self-confidence, all the measuring yardstick of best personalities. Teachers at this college teach students the importance of tolerance and respect for one another’s language and culture.
Our aim is to nurture Discipline values and integrity. Our vision is to produce conscientious confident citizen of India. I can foresee that every child who entered this college will certainly go out as responsible citizen with human values.
We have adopted National education policy 2020 in our programmes that envisages multidisciplinary curriculum for holistic developments of the students and local knowledge system with rigorous specialization in a chosen field(S) of learning, that help to develop all capacities of human beings- intellectual, aesthetic, social, physical, emotional, ethical and moral in an integrated manner; soft skills; such as complex problem solving, critical thinking, creative thinking, communication skills.
In my college all programmes have student centric curriculum and credit framework for the four -year Undergraduate program incorporating a flexible choice based credit system, multidisciplinary approach and multiple entry and exit options with internship and apprenticeship facilities.

Our aim is to exploit the potentials of our students. The ambition of the college is to inspire the students to learn, lead and serve in the constantly changing world by imparting the best possible higher education to our budding citizens of tomorrow. The college envisions quality higher education through promotion of learner-centric environment by quality parameters for holistic development of the students and staff. The primary objective of the college administration is to impart quality higher education; hence, it aims to equip the students with new knowledge, new skills, new understanding and new learning habits with positive attitude.
